Basket Weaving - Threadless Coiled Pine Needle Basketry

Weaving With Nature

Learn the basics of sustainable collection, cleaning, and preparation of pine needles.
You’ll be guided through the process of creating a threadless coiled pine needle basket from start to finish.
We’ll begin with the center base, learn how to build and shape the walls, and finish by closing the weave (if participants choose).
We’ll also explore cultures, both within the U.S. and around the world, that practice coiled basketry, and how this weaving tradition shows up in communities around the world.

Everyone will leave with a new weaving skill and a deeper appreciation for the artistry behind coiled baskets. I’ll also have bundles of pine needles available for anyone who wants to continue weaving at home.

Max capacity 15. Age 10+
