Sponsor a community member’s class
At Fork in the Path, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to learn about the natural world. If you are someone looking to receive a scholarship, please visit our application page.
Our scholarship program awards free and discounted classes to low-income community members for whom class costs would otherwise be a barrier to participation. We prioritize intersectional community members who are both low-income and ‘resilient identity.' We define resilient identities as those from communities that face challenges that result in them being historically underrepresented in outdoor spaces.
Your support helps provide high-quality ecological education. Thank you for considering supporting our community through this fund!
FAQs
-
No, it is not tax deductible as Fork in the Path does not have 501(c)3 status. But you can feel great about providing a community member with a wonderful learning opportunity! Small gifts to NGOs do not provide significant tax breaks.
-
Anyone who wants to, but priority is given to individuals who are low-income, disabled/chronically-ill, and resilient identity.

We have not opened scholarship applications yet. Once we have raised $1000, we will begin to give away scholarships. An announcement will be made on the website, on social media, and via our newsletter when we are ready. Our goal is to open up applications before the end of the year.
-
We do offer some free classes now. Our field classes are very expensive to run, between permit costs, insurance, paying teachers living wages, gas, teaching supplies, and business overhead. Our lowest tier tickets are just above cost. Currently, only 10% of students pay the “pay-it-forward” rate, which is just enough for Fork in the Path to continue to be able to offer sliding scale pricing.
-
Then we will give away more free tickets! 100% of the money raised goes towards scholarship tickets.
