What You'll Learn
This experiential, hands-on half-day program is all about the fascinating world of Mount Shasta fungi and begins at 10:00 am. Learning to forage for mushrooms is an ongoing life path. This program will teach you foundational skills to be able to go out foraging on your own. We will cover mushroom anatomy for identification, symbiotic tree and plant relationships, poisonous and edible mushrooms, and forest safety. In Mount Shasta in the spring and summer, it is possible to find edibles such as morels, spring porcini, butter boletes, and more. The program also includes community building, mindful movement, a cooking demo, and a tasting at the end.
Where
Mount Shasta area. Exact location provided with registration. You can get lodging or camp in the Mount Shasta or Dunsmuir area. Please plan to drive up to an additional hour in carpools from our meeting point to where the mushrooms are, they move around as conditions change! We scout extensively and will do our best to set you up for success and take you to them.
