Mussels Foraging Classes

Deepen your relationship with the ocean on a magical mussel foraging adventure on the beautiful Sonoma Coast. You will learn how to sustainably harvest, clean, and cook California coast mussels, with an opportunity to take home your fresh finds and share your abundance with friends. We will cover their role in the tidal ecosystem, what it means to be a good ocean steward, and regional history. You'll receive a handout with recipes and instructions to continue your learning at home. If you haven't experienced freshly foraged mussels, you will be in for a treat! We'll conclude the class with a delicious tasting on the bluff, providing a perfect gathering spot to celebrate our bounty together. This class is offered November through April. Mussels can become toxic in the warmer months, so the season is closed May-Oct, per the Department of Fish and Wildlife. A fishing license is required for this class.
